Pyx
Pyx are a community of trust architects developing a system to ensure ethical, sustainable and well governed supply chains using state-of-the-art data management tools.
The founders of Pyx asked Microcosm to develop a brand and visual identity that encompasses their mission and represents their business concept.
The name Pyx derived from the practice of ‘The Trial of the Pyx' performed by the British Royal Mint, since the middle ages, to test the purity and weight of coins. During the trial, wedges of gold and silver were cut form the plates from which coins were stamped and tested for purity. This practice is still performed, albeit ceremonially, today. A pyx is also a container which holds precious items on the alter in Christian churches,
The logo concept drew from this history to visually represent the wedges of the trial plates and a facet three dimensional object which references the pyx container. The golden metallic hues add to this feeling of precious metals. The use of triangular facets which interlock alludes to the connected nature of supply chain tracking and the use of modern data concepts such as block-chain and fractal mathematics.
The triangle motifs lend themselves for use across various branded collateral to add dynamic graphics and additional brand expression.
